Haveson & Otis is a general practice law firm serving the needs of individuals, families and small businesses in Mercer County and surrounding areas for over 25 years.
 
We handle numerous residential real estate closings every year and are known for the efficiency and attention to detail that is so important to giving our clients peace of mind. 
 
We also have a substantial personal injury practice and devote tremendous personal attention to all our cases.  We have the experience and understanding of the subtleties of personal injury law and have what it takes to settle cases favorably for our clients. 
 
Our Estate Planning practice has been growing steadily.  Mr. Otis's advanced degree in Estate Planning has allowed the firm to devise estate plans for many families in the Princeton area, saving money in estate taxes while also setting up trusts for children and grandchildren which ensure the passage of wealth between generations for many years into the future.
 
Our practice areas also include criminal defense (federal and New Jersey), traffic court including DWI (drunk driving) defense, speeding, driving without insurance, assault and domestic violence.  We also handle major crimes including murder, robbery, burglary, and sexual assault charges. 

Both Mr. Otis and Mr. Haveson have extensive experience as criminal defense attorneys.  Each is a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney, meeting the requirements of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for in-depth knowledge and experience of criminal law.

Mr. Otis was named Township Prosecutor in Montgomery Township in 2002.  He was also appointed as Municipal Prosecutor in both Princeton Borough and Princeon Township  in 2005.  He retired as Prosecutor in Princeton Borough and Princeton Township on December 31, 2007 and has resumed his criminal defense practice in the Princetons.  He continues to serve as Prosecutor in Montgomery Township.  He served as Pennington Borough Prosecutor from 1988-1998.  He is also a former Chief of the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Rape and Child Abuse Unit. He has vast experience in major criminal cases, including defense of drug cases, sexual assault and child abuse and all other major crimes.

Mr. Haveson is a former Chief Trial Attorney-Mercer County Prosecutor's Office (1977-1985) where he held the positions of Chief of the Homicide Unit, Chief of the Career Criminal Unit, Chief of the Trial Section and the Chief of the Juvenile Unit. Mr. Haveson prosecuted over 75 jury trials, including 15 murder cases. He has served as Muncipal Prosecutor in East Windsor and Lawrence Townships. Over the past 25 years he has gained extensive experience in criminal defense. Jury trials have included numerous homicide defense cases.
